How long does it take to complete a typical floor refinishing floors?
Depending on the size of job, many jobs can be completed within approximately 1-3 days. If extensive repairs or staining are required, it may take 1-2 days more. Typically rental apartment projects can be completed in 1 day depending on the number of coats of finish required. Houses you need to allow 2-3 days. How long should I wait before moving back my furniture?
Most finishes will cure (harden) 70% within 24-48 hours. Waterborne finishes are faster curing so furniture can usually be put back within 24 hours, whereas oil base finishes you should leave 48 hours before putting any heavy furniture on your floors. We will provide you with specifics before you plan to move back your furniture.
How long should I wait before putting down an area rug?
Given that area rugs cover larger sections of floor, we recommend that area rugs remain off the still-curing floors for 2-4 weeks. Even after it is a good practice to move your area rug around and not just leave it in one place always.
Do I have to take off the baseboards prior to getting my floors refinished?
No. In most cases you will do more damage to your walls by trying to remove your baseboards. It is best to leave them on and we will sand right up to them. Because we rub right along them, they may however get scuffed a bit and require some touch up afterward. If you are replacing the baseboards however, then it is best to remove the old ones.
